Capt. Jim Miller

Captain Jim Miller is a USCG Licensed and Insured Captain.   CPR Certified.

I grew up in Babylon and spent most of my free time fishing with my father out of Fire Island Inlet and Montauk.  Working on a sport fishing boat out of Montauk actually helped me pay for my college education.  After college, I became a high school math teacher, but my passion was fishing and I always dreamed of making a living on the water.   It wasn’t long before I realized I could make it happen,  so I took my USCG Captains License test and started Endurance Charters.

My charter business initially stemmed from my love of taking friends and family out fishing and sharing with them stories, skills, and techniques that I’ve developed over many years. I also noticed that many charter boats on L.I. were large, inefficient vessels that are expensive to run, and therefore, expensive to charter.  It became clear to me that there was a niche for reasonably priced, inshore and offshore fishing charters on boats that had “fishing versatility”; small enough for the back bays and the flats, but seaworthy enough for the canyons.

Whether it’s a half-day inshore trip on the 20′ Whaler, or an overnight canyon trip on the 35″ Duffy, Endurance Charters is a professional operation whose goal is to ensure all charters have a safe and enjoyable experience.  We can customize any trip to your liking.  In addition to full and half day trips, inshore and offshore, we can also combine a day of fishing with other on-water or beach activities including lunch/dinner at Fire Island or time at the beach.  We even had groups that wanted to do some swimming on the clamming grounds after a half day of fluke fishing.
