35 ‘ Duffy

Well, although we’re still doing some great bass fishing, it’s just about a wrap on the 2011 fishing season.

It was truly an incredible season for Endurance Fishing Charters.  We began the year by adding the 35’ Duffy to our fleet.  The Duffy has certainly lived up to its reputation for being highly seaworthy and comfortable in the worst of sea conditions.

As for fishing, we had many outstanding fluke, striper, shark and especially tuna trips.  The season started with another tremendous spring striped bass run.  Most bass were in the 30-40 pound class and were feeding on huge schools of bunker.  In addition, to the bass feeding on bunker, large thresher sharks  joined in on the frenzy and it wasn’t uncommon spotting them within a half-mile of the beach.   After some successful shark fishing trips, most of the summer was then focused on canyon fishing.  The action was primarily on the troll but we also had some nice yellowfin on the chunk.   On days we couldn’t go offshore, we did some ocean fluke fishing that saw great numbers and size.  The largest fluke this season was 9 pounds, but we had days where we limited out with 5-6 pounders.  When the offshore action settled down we transitioned back to striped bass fishing for the fall.  Although the fish were a bit smaller than in the spring, the quantity of fish was much like last year – astounding.  Most of the fish in the fall were taken on clam, but in late November the jigging action improved.  See our facebook page for highlights and pictures of the 2011 season.  I hope you’ll consider booking a charter for 2012.
